Packing Tips for the Good Earth Farms Trip

What you SHOULD take

  1. sleeping bags
  2. tent (To share with someone--preferably.)
  3. all necessary toiletries (You get to clean up at night.)
  4. swimsuits and towels (There will be some afternoon down time on Friday.)
  5. sunscreen and bug spray (We'll be working outside in June.)
  6. closed-toe shoes/sneakers (No flip-flops or sandals, please.)
  7. work gloves (To fight off blisters.)
  8. bandanas (To soak up sweat or to keep your neck shaded.)
  9. band aids (Safety first!)
  10. reusable water bottle (Always stay hydrated.)
And don't forget a favorite board game or deck of cards. We'll get to know each other better while playing a game before the next morning's work begins.

These should cover all the basics. Also, don't forget to bring your willingness to help, your happy attitude, and the excitement for new opportunities.

May Planning Meeting--Getting Ready for the Good Earth Farms Mission Trip

The C.E.Y. Rocketships continue our planning for the scheduled trip in June to Good Earth Farm, near Athens, Ohio.

Since we gathered in April to make our t-shirts, the churches represented by the C.E.Y. have held silent auctions at their congregations. Through the generosity of their parishoners, each church is working to raise the money needed to help pay for the youth and chaperones that are planning to visit Good Earth Farm.

We met this past Saturday to go over the good results of the silent auction and to discuss the particular details of the trip, June 13 through 15.

It looks like it is going to be a fun, work-filled time of mission and fellowship and I am definitely looking forward to going with my daughter Sarah and a few others from All Saints.

I'll try to make sure and take some photos during the drive down to Athens and while we are there working in the field, spending community time together, and doing whatever else we end up doing. I'll post all of those types of things--with exciting descriptions, I'm sure, when we return.

Making t-shirts

Today at the meeting, we gathered to make many t-shirts--of many different varieties.
Check out the video to see what everyone came up with.

Monthly Planning Meeting is Today

Today, April 20, is the third meeting of the Columbus Episcopal Youth planning committee. We will meet to make our CEY Rocketships t-shirts and continue our discussion of the upcoming June visit to Good Earth Farm.

We meet about every month at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, beside the Ohio State University campus.

We'll provide more information about our plans after the meeting.
